Dear all, my new podcast has been launched. Its about the migration of 1947. The Partition was a singularly traumatic experience in the subcontinent, both politically and emotionally, for people of all faiths and social standing. From poets to politicians, great thinkers on both sides of the border have dwelled on the anxiety of separation and starting a new life amidst a landscape of violence, loss, and nostalgia.
The two most acclaimed poems on the Partition came from Urdu poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz, ‘Subah-e Azadi (The Dawn of Freedom) and Punjabi poet Amrita Pritam’s ‘Ajj Akhan Waris Shah Nu’ are well known.
I would like to share Mr. Saud Usmani’s poem “وہ جو مٹی میں محبت کا اثر رکھا تھا. about partition.
