Dear all, my new podcast has been launched. Its about the migration of 1947. The Partition was a singularly traumatic experience in the subcontinent, both politically and emotionally, for people of all faiths and social standing. From poets to politicians, great thinkers on both sides of the border have dwelled on the anxiety of separation and starting a new life amidst a landscape of violence, loss, and nostalgia.
The two most acclaimed poems on the Partition came from Urdu poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz, ‘Subah-e Azadi (The Dawn of Freedom) and Punjabi poet Amrita Pritam’s ‘Ajj Akhan Waris Shah Nu’ are well known.
I would like to share Mr. Saud Usmani’s poem “وہ جو مٹی میں محبت کا اثر رکھا تھا. about partition.

The story of Zahhak originates in the Avesta. But in the tenth century AD, the famous Iranian poet, Ferdowsi retold this story in his famous book Shahnameh-E-Ferdowsi (Book of Kings). Many years ago, there lived an Arab ruler names Mardash who had a son with the name of Zahhak.
Zahhak was a really nice person until Ahriman, the Evil Spirit, persuaded him to kill his father.
After Mardash’s death, Zahhak became ruler. Ahriman once again appeared to him as a cook and made delicious meals for him. Zahhak asked Ahriman what he wants as his prize for the wonderful meals he had prepared. Ahriman just asked Zahhak to kiss his shoulders. After Ahriman kissed Zahhak’s shoulders, he disappeared. But suddenly two vicious black snakes grew from Zahhak’s shoulders.
Zahhak was terrified and didn't know what to do with the snakes. Ahriman once again appeared to him as a physician. He told Zahhak that the only way to control the snakes is to feed them human brain every day otherwise the snakes would eat Zahhak himself.

Banjaranama بنجارانامہ, बंजारानामा Safar With Sadaf Farooqui
The Banjaranama بنجارانامہ, बंजारानामा, is a famous satirical Urdu poem, written by the eighteenth-century Indian poet Nazeer Akbarabadi. The poem's essential message is that pride in worldly success is foolish, because human circumstances can change in a flash, material wealth and splendor is always transient, and death is the only certainty for all men.
